Medical Associates has two primary businesses: a medical practice and a health insurance company. Medical Associates Clinic was established in 1924, and is the oldest multispecialty group practice clinic in Iowa. With over 170 providers serving Dubuque and the Tri-State area, Medical Associates has a staff of over 1,000 health care professionals and support personnel. We have been designated a Better Performing Practice by the Medical Group Management Association for over ten consecutive years. Medical Associates Health Plans has held an Excellent rating for nine consecutive years, the highest level of accreditation possible by NCQA, and was named one of the nation's highest rated health insurance plans by NCQA in 2010: our commercial HMO plan placed #44 out of 227 nationally ranked plans in the NCQA Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2010-11-Private, and #16 out of 300 Medicare plans in the NCQA Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2010-11-Medicare.
